卻說那錦衣官把假唐僧扯出館驛，與羽林軍圍圍繞繞，直至朝門外，對黃門官言：「我等已請唐僧到此，煩為轉奏。」黃門官急進朝，依言奏上昏君，遂請進去。The story tells how the officer of the embroidered uniforms pulled the false Tang Priest out of the guest lodge, and together with the Plumed Forest Guards surrounded him and escorted him straight to the outer gate of the court, where he said to the Gate Official: "We have already invited the Tang Priest here — please be so good as to report this." The Gate Official hurried into the court and, following his words, reported to the befuddled ruler, who then ordered him brought in.眾官都在階下跪拜，惟假唐僧挺立階心，口中高叫：「比丘王，請我貧僧何說？」君王笑道：「朕得一疾，纏綿日久不愈。All the officials knelt in homage below the steps, but the false Tang Priest stood bolt upright in the middle of the hall and called out loudly: "King of Bhikṣu, why have you summoned this poor monk?" The king said with a smile: "We have contracted an illness that has lingered on for a long time without healing.幸國丈賜得一方，藥餌俱已完備，只少一味引子。Fortunately the State Tutor has bestowed a prescription, and the medicine has already been prepared in full — only one ingredient for the guiding decoction is still lacking.特請長老，求些藥引。We have specially invited the elder here to beg for that guiding ingredient.若得病愈，與長老修建祠堂，四時奉祭，永為傳國之香火。」假唐僧道：「我乃出家人，隻身至此，不知陛下問國丈要甚東西作引？」昏君道：「特求長老的心肝。」假唐僧道：「不瞞陛下說，心便有幾個兒，不知要的甚麼色樣？」那國丈在傍指定道：「那和尚，要你的黑心。」假唐僧道：「既如此，快取刀來，剖開胸腹，若有黑心，謹當奉命。」那昏君歡喜相謝，即著當駕官取一把牛耳短刀，遞與假僧。If the illness can be cured, we shall build a shrine for the elder and offer sacrifices to him through the four seasons, so that the incense of his worship shall be passed down forever through the realm." The false Tang Priest said: "I am a monk who has left the household life, and I have come here alone — I do not know what thing Your Majesty asked the State Tutor about, to serve as the guiding ingredient." The befuddled ruler said: "We specially seek the elder's heart and liver." The false Tang Priest said: "I will not hide it from Your Majesty — as for hearts, I do have a few of them, but I do not know what color is wanted." The State Tutor, standing to the side, pointed and said: "Monk, it is your black heart that is wanted." The false Tang Priest said: "Since that is so, bring a knife quickly and cut open my chest and belly — if there is a black heart there, I shall respectfully obey the command." The befuddled ruler, delighted, thanked him and at once had the attending official fetch a short ox-eared knife, which he handed to the false monk.假僧接刀在手，解開衣服，挺起胸膛，將左手抹腹，右手持刀，唿喇的響一聲，把肚皮剖開，那裡頭就骨都都的滾出一堆心來。The false monk took the knife in hand, loosened his robe, thrust out his chest, wiped his belly with his left hand, and held the knife in his right — with a ripping sound, he cut open his belly, and from inside a whole heap of hearts came tumbling and rolling out.諕得文官失色，武將身麻。The civil officials were terrified out of their color, and the military officers went numb with fright.國丈在殿上見了道：「這是個多心的和尚。」假僧將那些心，血淋淋的一個個撿開與眾觀看，卻都是些紅心、白心、黃心、慳貪心、利名心、嫉妒心、計較心、好勝心、望高心、侮慢心、殺害心、狠毒心、恐怖心、謹慎心、邪妄心、無名隱暗之心、種種不善之心，更無一個黑心。Seeing this from the hall, the State Tutor said: "This is a monk of many hearts." The false monk picked up those hearts, dripping with blood, and laid them open one by one for all to see — but they were all red hearts, white hearts, yellow hearts, mean and covetous hearts, hearts craving fame and profit, jealous hearts, calculating hearts, competitive hearts, hearts that longed for high station, contemptuous hearts, murderous hearts, vicious and cruel hearts, fearful hearts, cautious hearts, wickedly deluded hearts, hearts of hidden and nameless darkness, and every kind of unwholesome heart — but not a single black heart among them.那昏君諕得呆呆掙掙，口不能言，戰兢兢的教：「收了去，收了去。」那假唐僧忍耐不住，收了法心，現出本相，對昏君道：「陛下全無眼力。The befuddled ruler was so terrified he sat there stunned and speechless, and trembling, he ordered: "Take them away, take them away." The false Tang Priest, no longer able to hold back, withdrew the magically conjured hearts and revealed his true form, saying to the befuddled ruler: "Your Majesty has absolutely no discernment.我和尚家都是一片好心，惟你這國丈是個黑心，好做藥引。We monks all carry nothing but good and kindly hearts — it is this State Tutor of yours who has a black heart, well suited to serve as the medicine's guiding ingredient.你不信，等我替你取他的出來看看。」If you do not believe it, wait while I take his out for you to see."

那國丈聽見，急睜睛仔細觀看，見那和尚變了面皮，不是那般模樣。When the State Tutor heard this, he opened his eyes wide and looked closely, and saw that the monk's face had changed and was no longer of that same appearance.咦！Ay!

卻抽身，騰雲就起，被行者翻觔斗，跳在空中喝道：「那裡走？He turned and fled, rising up on a cloud, but Wukong somersaulted after him, leapt into the air, and shouted: "Where do you think you're going?吃吾一棒。」那國丈即使蟠龍拐杖來迎。Take my staff!" The State Tutor at once wielded his coiled-dragon staff to meet him.他兩個在半空中這場好殺：The two of them fought a fine battle there in mid-air:

却抽身，腾云就起，被行者翻觔斗，跳在空中喝道：「那里走？吃吾一棒。」那国丈即使蟠龙拐杖来迎。他两个在半空中这场好杀：

那妖精與行者苦戰二十餘合，蟠龍拐抵不住金箍棒，虛幌了一拐，將身化作一道寒光，落入皇宮內院，把進貢的妖后帶出宮門，並化寒光，不知去向。The demon fought bitterly with Wukong for more than twenty rounds, and the coiled-dragon staff proved no match for the gold-banded cudgel; feinting with a single swing of the staff, he turned his body into a streak of cold light and dropped down into the inner palace, where he seized the tribute demon-consort and bore her out through the palace gates, then, together with her, turned into a streak of cold light and vanished, no one knew where.

那妖精与行者苦战二十余合，蟠龙拐抵不住金箍棒，虚幌了一拐，将身化作一道寒光，落入皇宫内院，把进贡的妖后带出宫门，并化寒光，不知去向。

大聖按落雲頭，到了宮殿下，對多官道：「你們的好國丈啊！」多官一齊禮拜，感謝神僧。The Great Sage lowered his cloud and came down before the palace hall, saying to the assembled officials: "What a fine State Tutor you had there!" The officials all bowed in unison, giving thanks to the divine monk.行者道：「且休拜，且去看你那昏主何在？」多官道：「我主見爭戰時，驚恐潛藏，不知向那座宮中去也。」行者即命：「快尋，莫被美后拐去。」多官聽言，不分內外，同行者先奔美后宮，漠然無蹤，連美后也通不見了。Wukong said: "Never mind bowing for now — go and see where your befuddled sovereign has got to." The officials said: "When our lord saw the fighting, he was frightened and went into hiding somewhere — we do not know which palace he went to." Wukong at once ordered: "Hurry and find him, lest he be carried off by that lovely consort." On hearing this, the officials, without regard for inner or outer quarters, went with Wukong first to the beautiful consort's palace, but it was utterly silent and empty — even the beautiful consort herself was nowhere to be seen.正宮、東宮、西宮、六院，概眾后妃，都來拜謝大聖。The Empress of the Main Palace, the Eastern Palace, the Western Palace, and all the consorts of the Six Courts came together to bow in thanks to the Great Sage.大聖道：「且請起，不到謝處哩。The Great Sage said: "Please rise for now — this is not yet the moment for thanks.且去尋你主公。」少時，見四五個太監攙著那昏君，自謹身殿後面而來。Let us go and find your sovereign lord." In a little while, they saw four or five eunuchs supporting the befuddled ruler as he came from behind the Hall of Self-Reflection.眾臣俯伏在地，齊聲啟奏道：「主公，主公，感得神僧到此，辨明真假。All the officials prostrated themselves on the ground and memorialized together in one voice: "Sovereign, sovereign, we are grateful that the divine monk came here and distinguished the true from the false.那國丈乃是個妖邪，連美后亦不見矣。」國王聞言，即請行者出皇宮，到寶殿，拜謝了，道：「長老，你早間來的模樣那般俊偉，這時如何就改了形容？」行者笑道：「不瞞陛下說，早間來者，是我師父，乃唐朝御弟三藏。That State Tutor was in fact a demon fiend, and even the beautiful consort has now vanished as well." On hearing this, the king at once invited Wukong out of the inner palace to the throne hall, bowed his thanks, and said: "Elder, your appearance this morning was so handsome and imposing — how is it that your looks have changed now?" Wukong said with a smile: "I will not hide it from Your Majesty — the one who came this morning was my master, the imperially sworn brother of the Tang court, Sanzang.我是他徒弟孫悟空，還有兩個師弟豬悟能、沙悟淨，見在金亭館驛。I am his disciple Sun Wukong, and I have two fellow disciples besides, Zhu Wuneng and Sha Wujing, who are presently at the Golden Pavilion guest lodge.因知你信了妖言，要取我師父心肝做藥引，是老孫變作師父模樣，特來此降妖也。」那國王聞說，即傳旨著閣下太宰快去驛中請師眾來朝。Knowing that you had believed the demon's lying words and meant to take my master's heart and liver for the guiding medicine, old Sun transformed himself into my master's likeness and came here on purpose to subdue the demon." On hearing this, the king at once issued an edict ordering the Grand Steward of the Court to hurry to the lodge and invite the whole company of monks to court.

大圣按落云头，到了宫殿下，对多官道：「你们的好国丈啊！」多官一齐礼拜，感谢神僧。行者道：「且休拜，且去看你那昏主何在？」多官道：「我主见争战时，惊恐潜藏，不知向那座宫中去也。」行者即命：「快寻，莫被美后拐去。」多官听言，不分内外，同行者先奔美后宫，漠然无踪，连美后也通不见了。正宫、东宫、西宫、六院，概众后妃，都来拜谢大圣。大圣道：「且请起，不到谢处哩。且去寻你主公。」少时，见四五个太监搀著那昏君，自谨身殿后面而来。众臣俯伏在地，齐声启奏道：「主公，主公，感得神僧到此，辨明真假。那国丈乃是个妖邪，连美后亦不见矣。」国王闻言，即请行者出皇宫，到宝殿，拜谢了，道：「长老，你早间来的模样那般俊伟，这时如何就改了形容？」行者笑道：「不瞒陛下说，早间来者，是我师父，乃唐朝御弟三藏。我是他徒弟孙悟空，还有两个师弟猪悟能、沙悟净，见在金亭馆驿。因知你信了妖言，要取我师父心肝做药引，是老孙变作师父模样，特来此降妖也。」那国王闻说，即传旨著阁下太宰快去驿中请师众来朝。

那三藏聽見行者現了相，在空中降妖，嚇得魂飛魄散。When Sanzang heard that Wukong had revealed his true form and was subduing the demon up in the air, he was frightened out of his wits.幸有八戒、沙僧護持，他又臉上戴著一片子臊泥。Fortunately Bajie and Sha Seng were there to protect and support him, and besides, his face was still covered with that patch of stinking mud.正悶悶不快，只聽得人叫道：「法師，我等乃比丘國王差來的閣下太宰，特請入朝謝恩也。」八戒笑道：「師父，莫怕，莫怕。Just as he sat there gloomy and displeased, he heard someone call out: "Master, we are the Cabinet Grand Stewards sent by the King of Bhikṣu, and we have come specially to invite you into court to give thanks for his deliverance." Bajie laughed and said: "Master, don't be afraid, don't be afraid.這不是又請你取心，想是師兄得勝，請你酬謝哩。」三藏道：「雖是得勝來請，但我這個臊臉，怎麼見人？」八戒道：「沒奈何，我們且去見了師兄，自有解釋。」真個那長老無計，只得跟著八戒、沙僧，挑著擔，牽著馬，同去驛庭之上。This is not another summons to take your heart — it must be that elder brother has won, and now they are inviting you to be thanked." Sanzang said: "Even if this is a summons made after victory, how can I meet people with this stinking face of mine?" Bajie said: "There's no help for it — let's go and see elder brother first, and there will surely be some way to explain it." And indeed the elder, having no other plan, could only follow Bajie and Sha Seng, who carried the load and led the horse, and go together to the courtyard of the guest lodge.那太宰見了，害怕道：「爺爺呀！When the Grand Steward saw them, he was frightened and said: "Goodness gracious!這都像似妖頭怪腦之類。」沙僧道：「朝士休怪醜陋，我等乃是生成的遺體。These all look like demon-headed monster creatures." Sha Seng said: "Court official, do not take offense at our ugliness — we were simply born this way in our natural form.若我師父，來見了我師兄，他就俊了。」As for our master, once he sees my elder brother, he will become handsome again."

那三藏听见行者现了相，在空中降妖，吓得魂飞魄散。幸有八戒、沙僧护持，他又脸上戴著一片子臊泥。正闷闷不快，只听得人叫道：「法师，我等乃比丘国王差来的阁下太宰，特请入朝谢恩也。」八戒笑道：「师父，莫怕，莫怕。这不是又请你取心，想是师兄得胜，请你酬谢哩。」三藏道：「虽是得胜来请，但我这个臊脸，怎么见人？」八戒道：「没奈何，我们且去见了师兄，自有解释。」真个那长老无计，只得跟著八戒、沙僧，挑著担，牵著马，同去驿庭之上。那太宰见了，害怕道：「爷爷呀！这都像似妖头怪脑之类。」沙僧道：「朝士休怪丑陋，我等乃是生成的遗体。若我师父，来见了我师兄，他就俊了。」

他三人與眾來朝，不待宣召，直至殿下。The three of them, together with the officials, went to court, and without waiting to be summoned, went straight down before the hall.行者看見，即轉身下殿，迎著面，把師父的泥臉子抓下，吹口仙氣，叫：「變！」那唐僧即時復了原身，精神愈覺爽利。When Wukong saw them, he at once turned and came down from the hall, went up to face his master, tore off the mud mask from his face, blew a breath of immortal breath on it, and cried: "Change!" The Tang Priest at once recovered his original form, and his spirit felt all the more fresh and lively.國王下殿親迎，口稱：「法師老佛。」師徒們將馬拴住，都上殿來相見。The king came down from the hall to greet him in person, calling out: "Elder Master, Living Buddha." The master and disciples tied up the horse, and all went up to the hall to meet him.行者道：「陛下可知那怪來自何方？Wukong said: "Does Your Majesty know where that demon came from?等老孫去與你一併擒來，剪除後患。」三宮六院、諸嬪群妃都在那翡翠屏後；Let old Sun go and capture the whole lot of them together for you, to root out future trouble." The three palaces and six courts, all the consorts and concubines, were gathered there behind the kingfisher-feather screen;聽見行者說剪除後患，也不避內外男女之嫌，一齊出來拜告道：「萬望神僧老佛大施法力，斬草除根，把他剪除盡絕，誠為莫大之恩，自當重報。」行者忙忙答禮，只教國王說他住居。hearing Wukong speak of rooting out future trouble, they did not shrink from the impropriety of inner and outer, male and female mixing, but came out together and pleaded: "We beg most earnestly that the divine monk and Living Buddha will exert his great magic power to the full, cut the grass and dig out the roots, and eliminate him utterly — this would be a boundless kindness, which we shall surely repay richly." Wukong hastily returned their bows, and asked only that the king tell him where the demon lived.國王含羞告道：「三年前他到時，朕曾問他。The king, full of shame, confessed: "When he first came, three years ago, We once asked him about this.他說離城不遠，只在向南去七十里路，有一座柳林坡清華莊上。He said that not far from the city, only seventy li to the south, there was a place called Willow Grove Slope, at the Clear Splendor Manor.國丈年老無兒，止後妻生一女，年方十六，不曾配人，願進與朕。The State Tutor, being old and without sons, had only a daughter born to his second wife, just sixteen years of age and not yet betrothed, whom he wished to offer to Us.朕因愛那女，遂納了，寵幸在宮。Because We took a fancy to the girl, We accepted her and showed her great favor in the palace.不期得疾，太醫屢藥無功。Unexpectedly We fell ill, and the imperial physicians' medicines had no effect time after time.他說：『我有仙方，止用小兒心煎湯為引。』是朕不才，輕信其言，遂選民間小兒，選定今日午時開刀取心。He said, 'I have an immortal prescription, using only a decoction with a child's heart as the guiding ingredient.' It was Our own lack of wisdom that led Us to believe his words too readily, and so We selected children from among the common people, fixing on today at noon to cut them open and take their hearts.不料神僧下降，恰恰又遇籠兒都不見了。Unexpectedly the divine monk descended just then, and by strange coincidence the very cages of children also disappeared.他就說神僧十世修真，元陽未泄，得其心，比小兒心更加萬倍。He then said that the divine monk had cultivated true perfection through ten lifetimes and had never once lost his primal yang, so that obtaining his heart would be ten thousand times better than the hearts of children.一時誤犯，不知神僧識透妖魔。In a moment of error We offended, not knowing that the divine monk would see through the demon.敢望廣施大法，剪其後患，朕以傾國之資酬謝。」行者笑道：「實不相瞞，籠中小兒，是我師慈悲，著我藏了。We dare only hope that you will broadly exercise your great arts and root out this future trouble, and We shall repay you with the wealth of the whole realm." Wukong said with a smile: "To tell you the truth, the children in the cages — it was my master, out of compassion, who had me hide them away.你且休題甚麼資財相謝，待我捉了妖怪，是我的功行。」叫：「八戒，跟我去來。」八戒道：「謹依兄命。You need not speak of any wealth as repayment — once I have caught the demon, that will be my own merit and deed." Then he called: "Bajie, come with me." Bajie said: "I respectfully obey my elder brother's command.但只是腹中空虛，不好著力。」國王即傳旨，教光祿寺快辦齋供。But my stomach is empty, and I won't have the strength to fight well." The king at once issued an edict ordering the Court of Imperial Entertainments to prepare a vegetarian meal quickly.不一時齋到。In no time the meal arrived.八戒盡飽一餐，抖擻精神，隨行者駕雲而起。Bajie ate his fill, then, bracing himself and gathering his spirits, mounted the clouds together with Wukong and rose into the air.諕得那國王、妃后並文武多官，一個個朝空禮拜，都道：「是真仙真佛降臨凡也。」This so terrified the king, the consorts, and all the civil and military officials that every one of them bowed toward the sky, saying: "These are truly immortals, truly Buddhas, descended into the mortal world."

那大聖攜著八戒，徑到南方七十里之地，住下風雲，找尋妖處。The Great Sage, taking Bajie with him, went straight to a spot seventy li to the south, brought down the wind and clouds, and searched for the demon's lair.但只見一股清溪，兩邊夾岸，岸上有千千萬萬的楊柳，更不知清華莊在於何處。But he saw only a clear stream, its two banks lined with countless willow trees, and had no idea at all where the Clear Splendor Manor might be.正是那：It was just as the verse says:

那大圣携著八戒，径到南方七十里之地，住下风云，找寻妖处。但只见一股清溪，两边夹岸，岸上有千千万万的杨柳，更不知清华庄在于何处。正是那：

孫大聖尋覓不著，即捻訣，念一聲「唵」字真言，拘出一個當方土地，戰兢兢近前跪下叫道：「大聖，柳林坡土地叩頭。」行者道：「你休怕，我不打你。Unable to find it, Great Sage Sun formed a mudra with his fingers and recited the sacred word "Om," summoning forth the local land-god of that place, who came trembling before him, knelt down, and said: "Great Sage, the land-god of Willow Grove Slope kowtows to you." Wukong said: "Don't be afraid, I won't strike you.我問你：柳林坡有個清華莊，在於何方？」土地道：「此間有個清華洞，不曾有個清華莊。I ask you: where is the Clear Splendor Manor at Willow Grove Slope?" The land-god said: "Here there is a Clear Splendor Cave, but there has never been any Clear Splendor Manor.小神知道了，大聖想是自比丘國來的？」行者道：「正是，正是。This lowly spirit understands now — Great Sage, you must have come from the Kingdom of Bhikṣu?" Wukong said: "Just so, just so.比丘國王被一個妖精哄了，是老孫到那廂，識得是妖怪，當時戰退那怪，化一道寒光，不知去向。The King of Bhikṣu was deceived by a demon; old Sun went there, recognized it as a demon, and at the time fought it off — it turned into a streak of cold light and vanished, no one knew where.及問比丘王，他說三年前進美女時，曾問其由，怪言居住城南七十里柳林坡清華莊。When I then asked the King of Bhikṣu, he said that three years ago, when the beautiful girl was presented, he had asked about her origins, and the demon had said it lived at Clear Splendor Manor, Willow Grove Slope, seventy li south of the city.適尋到此，只見林坡，不見清華莊，是以問你。」土地叩頭道：「望大聖恕罪。I have just now searched my way here, and see only the willow grove and slope, but no Clear Splendor Manor — that is why I am asking you." The land-god kowtowed and said: "I beg the Great Sage's pardon.比丘王亦我地之主也，小神理當鑒察。The King of Bhikṣu is also the lord of this land of mine, and this lowly spirit ought by rights to have kept watch over such matters.奈何妖精神威法大，如我泄漏他事，就來欺凌，故此未獲。But that demon's spiritual power and magic arts are so formidable that, had I leaked word of his affairs, he would have come and bullied me — that is why he was never caught.大聖今來，只去那南岸九叉頭一顆楊樹根下，左轉三轉，右轉三轉，用兩手齊撲樹上，連叫三聲『開門』，即現清華洞府。」Now that the Great Sage has come, you need only go to the roots of a nine-forked willow tree on the south bank, turn left three times and right three times, then slap the tree with both hands together and call out 'Open the door' three times, and the Clear Splendor Cave Mansion will at once appear."

孙大圣寻觅不著，即捻诀，念一声「唵」字真言，拘出一个当方土地，战兢兢近前跪下叫道：「大圣，柳林坡土地叩头。」行者道：「你休怕，我不打你。我问你：柳林坡有个清华庄，在于何方？」土地道：「此间有个清华洞，不曾有个清华庄。小神知道了，大圣想是自比丘国来的？」行者道：「正是，正是。比丘国王被一个妖精哄了，是老孙到那厢，识得是妖怪，当时战退那怪，化一道寒光，不知去向。及问比丘王，他说三年前进美女时，曾问其由，怪言居住城南七十里柳林坡清华庄。适寻到此，只见林坡，不见清华庄，是以问你。」土地叩头道：「望大圣恕罪。比丘王亦我地之主也，小神理当鉴察。奈何妖精神威法大，如我泄漏他事，就来欺凌，故此未获。大圣今来，只去那南岸九叉头一颗杨树根下，左转三转，右转三转，用两手齐扑树上，连叫三声『开门』，即现清华洞府。」

大聖聞言，即令土地回去，與八戒跳過溪來，尋那顆楊樹。On hearing this, the Great Sage sent the land-god back, then leapt across the stream with Bajie and went looking for that willow tree.果然有九條叉枝，總在一顆根上。Sure enough, it had nine forked branches, all growing from a single root.行者吩咐八戒：「你且遠遠的站定，待我叫開門，尋著那怪，趕將出來，你卻接應。」八戒聞命，即離樹有半里遠近立下。Wukong instructed Bajie: "You stand still some distance away, and wait — once I call open the door and find the demon and drive him out, you be ready to head him off." Bajie, hearing this command, went and stood about half a li from the tree.這大聖依土地之言，繞樹根，左轉三轉，右轉三轉，雙手齊撲其樹，叫：「開門，開門。」霎時間，一聲響喨，唿喇喇的門開兩扇，更不見樹的蹤跡。The Great Sage, following the land-god's instructions, went around the tree's roots, turned left three times and right three times, then slapped the tree with both hands together and called: "Open the door, open the door." In an instant there came a loud crash, and with a ripping sound the two leaves of a door swung open, and there was no longer any trace of the tree at all.那裡邊光明霞采，亦無人煙。Inside, there was bright and radiant light, though not a soul in sight.行者趁神威，撞將進去，但見那裡好個去處：Wukong, seizing on his divine might, rushed straight in, and saw that it was truly a fine place:

大圣闻言，即令土地回去，与八戒跳过溪来，寻那颗杨树。果然有九条叉枝，总在一颗根上。行者吩咐八戒：「你且远远的站定，待我叫开门，寻著那怪，赶将出来，你却接应。」八戒闻命，即离树有半里远近立下。这大圣依土地之言，绕树根，左转三转，右转三转，双手齐扑其树，叫：「开门，开门。」霎时间，一声响喨，唿喇喇的门开两扇，更不见树的踪迹。那里边光明霞采，亦无人烟。行者趁神威，撞将进去，但见那里好个去处：

行者急拽步，行近前邊細看，見石屏上有四個大字：「清華仙府」。Wukong hurried forward and, going up close, looked carefully, and saw on a stone screen four large characters: "Clear Splendor Immortal Mansion."他忍不住，跳過石屏看處，只見那老怪懷中摟著個美女，喘噓噓的，正講比丘國事，齊聲叫道：「好機會來，三年事，今日得完，被那猴頭破了。」行者跑近身，掣棒高叫道：「我把你這夥毛團！Unable to restrain himself, he leapt past the stone screen to look, and there saw the old demon holding the beautiful girl in his arms, panting and gasping, just then talking over the affair at the Kingdom of Bhikṣu, saying together: "What a fine chance this was — three years in the making, and today it would have been completed, but that monkey-head ruined it." Wukong ran up close, raised his cudgel, and shouted loudly: "You pack of hairy creatures!甚麼『好機會』？What do you mean, 'a fine chance'?吃我一棒。」那老怪丟了美人，掄起蟠龍拐，急架相迎。Take my staff!" The old demon dropped the beauty, whirled up his coiled-dragon staff, and hurriedly raised it to meet the blow.他兩個在洞前，這場好殺，比前又甚不同：The two of them fought a fine battle there before the cave, quite different from the one before:

行者急拽步，行近前边细看，见石屏上有四个大字：「清华仙府」。他忍不住，跳过石屏看处，只见那老怪怀中搂著个美女，喘嘘嘘的，正讲比丘国事，齐声叫道：「好机会来，三年事，今日得完，被那猴头破了。」行者跑近身，掣棒高叫道：「我把你这伙毛团！甚么『好机会』？吃我一棒。」那老怪丢了美人，抡起蟠龙拐，急架相迎。他两个在洞前，这场好杀，比前又甚不同：

原來八戒在外邊，聽見他們裡面嚷鬧，激得他心癢難撓，掣釘鈀，把一顆九叉楊樹鈀倒，使鈀築了幾下，築得那鮮血直冒，嚶嚶的似乎有聲。It happened that Bajie, outside, heard the uproar of their fighting within, and it stirred up such an itch in his heart that he could not bear it — he seized his rake, felled the nine-forked willow tree with it, and struck it several times with the rake, striking until fresh blood gushed straight out, and it seemed to give off a faint whimpering sound.他道：「這顆樹成了精也，這顆樹成了精也。」八戒舉鈀，又正築處，只見行者引怪出來。He said: "This tree has become a spirit! This tree has become a spirit!" The idiot raised his rake and was just about to strike again, when he saw Wukong lead the demon out.那獃子不打話，趕上前，舉鈀就築。The idiot, without a word, rushed up and raised his rake to strike.那老怪戰行者已是難敵，見八戒鈀來，愈覺心慌，敗了陣，將身一幌，化道寒光，徑投東走。The old demon, already hard pressed fighting Wukong, grew all the more panicked at the sight of Bajie's rake coming, lost the engagement, gave his body a shake, turned into a streak of cold light, and fled straight to the east.他兩個決不放鬆，向東趕來。The two of them would by no means let up, and chased after him to the east.

原来八戒在外边，听见他们里面嚷闹，激得他心痒难挠，掣钉钯，把一颗九叉杨树钯倒，使钯筑了几下，筑得那鲜血直冒，嘤嘤的似乎有声。他道：「这颗树成了精也，这颗树成了精也。」八戒举钯，又正筑处，只见行者引怪出来。那呆子不打话，赶上前，举钯就筑。那老怪战行者已是难敌，见八戒钯来，愈觉心慌，败了阵，将身一幌，化道寒光，径投东走。他两个决不放松，向东赶来。

正當喊殺之際，又聞得鸞鶴聲鳴，祥光縹緲。Just as the shouts of battle rang out, they suddenly heard the cry of simurghs and cranes, and saw an auspicious light floating faint and shimmering.舉目視之，乃南極老人星也。Raising their eyes to look, they saw it was the Old Star of the South Pole.那老人把寒光罩住，叫道：「大聖慢來，天蓬休趕，老道在此施禮哩。」行者即答禮道：「壽星兄弟，那裡來？」八戒笑道：「肉頭老兒罩住寒光，必定捉住妖怪了。」壽星陪笑道：「在這裡，在這裡。The old immortal enveloped the streak of cold light and called out: "Great Sage, slow down, and Tianpeng, stop chasing — this old Daoist has come here to pay his respects." Wukong at once returned the greeting, saying: "Brother Longevity Star, where have you come from?" Bajie laughed and said: "This fleshy-headed old fellow has trapped the cold light — he must have caught the demon for sure." The Longevity Star said with an apologetic smile: "He is here, he is here.望二公饒他命罷。」行者道：「老怪不與老弟相干，為何來說人情？」壽星笑道：「他是我的一副腳力，不意走將來，成此妖怪。」行者道：「既是老弟之物，只教他現出本相來看看。」壽星聞言，即把寒光放出，喝道：「孽畜！I beg you two gentlemen to spare his life." Wukong said: "The old demon has nothing to do with you, old brother — why have you come to plead for him?" The Longevity Star said with a smile: "He is one of my mounts — I never expected he would run off and become this demon." Wukong said: "Since he is your own creature, just have him show his true form so we can see it." On hearing this, the Longevity Star at once released the cold light and shouted: "Wretched beast!快現本相，饒你死罪。」那怪打個轉身，原來是隻白鹿。Show your true form at once, and you will be spared the death penalty." The demon gave a turn of its body, and it turned out to be a white deer.壽星拿起拐杖道：「這孽畜，連我的拐棒也偷來也。」那隻鹿俯伏在地，口不能言，只管叩頭滴淚。The Longevity Star picked up his staff and said: "This wretched beast has even stolen my staff." The deer lay prostrate on the ground, unable to speak, only kowtowing and shedding tears.但見他：Just see how it looked:

正当喊杀之际，又闻得鸾鹤声鸣，祥光缥缈。举目视之，乃南极老人星也。那老人把寒光罩住，叫道：「大圣慢来，天蓬休赶，老道在此施礼哩。」行者即答礼道：「寿星兄弟，那里来？」八戒笑道：「肉头老儿罩住寒光，必定捉住妖怪了。」寿星陪笑道：「在这里，在这里。望二公饶他命罢。」行者道：「老怪不与老弟相干，为何来说人情？」寿星笑道：「他是我的一副脚力，不意走将来，成此妖怪。」行者道：「既是老弟之物，只教他现出本相来看看。」寿星闻言，即把寒光放出，喝道：「孽畜！快现本相，饶你死罪。」那怪打个转身，原来是只白鹿。寿星拿起拐杖道：「这孽畜，连我的拐棒也偷来也。」那只鹿俯伏在地，口不能言，只管叩头滴泪。但见他：

壽星謝了行者，就跨鹿而行。The Longevity Star thanked Wukong, then mounted the deer to leave.被行者一把扯住道：「老弟，且慢走，還有兩件事未完哩。」壽星道：「還有甚麼未完之事？」行者道：「還有美人未獲，不知是個甚麼怪物；But Wukong caught hold of him and said: "Old brother, not so fast — there are still two matters unfinished." The Longevity Star said: "What matters are still unfinished?" Wukong said: "The beautiful girl has not yet been caught, and we do not know what kind of monster she is;還又要同到比丘城見那昏君，現相回旨也。」壽星道：「既這等說，我且寧耐。and besides, we must go together to the city of Bhikṣu to see that befuddled king, and show our true forms in report of our mission." The Longevity Star said: "Since that is how it is, I will wait patiently for a while.你與天蓬下洞擒捉那美人來，同去現相可也。」行者道：「老弟略等等兒，我們去了就來。」You and Tianpeng go down into the cave and catch that beautiful girl, and then we can all go together to show our true forms." Wukong said: "Wait a little, old brother — we'll be back as soon as we go."

寿星谢了行者，就跨鹿而行。被行者一把扯住道：「老弟，且慢走，还有两件事未完哩。」寿星道：「还有甚么未完之事？」行者道：「还有美人未获，不知是个甚么怪物；还又要同到比丘城见那昏君，现相回旨也。」寿星道：「既这等说，我且宁耐。你与天蓬下洞擒捉那美人来，同去现相可也。」行者道：「老弟略等等儿，我们去了就来。」

那八戒抖擻精神，隨行者徑入清華仙府，吶聲喊，叫：「拿妖精，拿妖精！」那美人戰戰兢兢，正自難逃，又聽得喊聲大振，即轉石屏之內，又沒個後門出頭。Bajie, bracing himself and gathering his spirits, followed Wukong straight into the Clear Splendor Immortal Mansion, shouting loudly: "Catch the demon, catch the demon!" The beautiful girl, trembling with fear, was just then unable to find any way to escape, when she heard the shouting grow even louder, and turned back behind the stone screen, only to find there was no back door to get out through.被八戒喝聲：「那裡走？Bajie shouted at her: "Where do you think you're going?我把你這個哄漢子的臊精，看鈀。」那美人手中又無兵器，不能迎敵，將身一閃，化道寒光，往外就走。I'll show you, you stinking creature who bewitches men — take my rake!" The beautiful girl had no weapon in hand and could not fight back; giving her body a shake, she turned into a streak of cold light and made to flee outside.被大聖抵住寒光，乒乓一棒。But the Great Sage blocked the cold light and, with a crack, struck it with his cudgel.那怪立不住腳，倒在塵埃，現了本相，原來是一個白面狐狸。The demon could no longer stand, fell to the dust, and revealed her true form — it turned out to be a white-faced fox.獃子忍不住手，舉鈀照頭一築。The idiot could not restrain his hands, and raised his rake to strike her on the head.可憐把那個傾城傾國千般笑，化作毛團狐狸形。How pitiful — that face of a thousand smiles that could topple cities and kingdoms was turned into the shape of a hairy, furry fox.行者叫道：「莫打爛他，且留他此身去見昏君。」Wukong called out: "Don't beat it to a pulp — leave the body whole so we can bring it to show the befuddled king."

那八戒抖擞精神，随行者径入清华仙府，呐声喊，叫：「拿妖精，拿妖精！」那美人战战兢兢，正自难逃，又听得喊声大振，即转石屏之内，又没个后门出头。被八戒喝声：「那里走？我把你这个哄汉子的臊精，看钯。」那美人手中又无兵器，不能迎敌，将身一闪，化道寒光，往外就走。被大圣抵住寒光，乒乓一棒。那怪立不住脚，倒在尘埃，现了本相，原来是一个白面狐狸。呆子忍不住手，举钯照头一筑。可怜把那个倾城倾国千般笑，化作毛团狐狸形。行者叫道：「莫打烂他，且留他此身去见昏君。」

那獃子不嫌穢污，一把揪住尾子，拖拖扯扯，跟隨行者出得門來。The idiot, not minding the filth, seized it by the tail and, dragging and pulling it along, followed Wukong out through the door.只見那壽星老兒手摸著鹿頭罵道：「好孽畜啊，你怎麼背主逃去，在此成精？Just then they saw the old Longevity Star stroking the deer's head and scolding it: "You wretched beast, how could you turn your back on your master and run off to become a demon here?若不是我來，孫大聖定打死你了。」行者跳出來道：「老弟說甚麼？」壽星道：「我囑鹿哩，我囑鹿哩。」八戒將個死狐狸摜在鹿的面前道：「這可是你的女兒麼？」那鹿點頭幌腦，伸著嘴，聞他幾聞，呦呦發聲，似有眷戀不捨之意。If I had not come, Great Sage Sun would surely have beaten you to death." Wukong leapt out and said: "Old brother, what are you saying?" The Longevity Star said: "I was just scolding the deer, I was just scolding the deer." Bajie flung the dead fox down in front of the deer and said: "Is this your daughter, then?" The deer nodded and shook its head, stretched out its muzzle, sniffed at it a few times, and gave a plaintive cry, as if filled with unwilling attachment and longing.被壽星劈頭撲了一掌道：「孽畜！The Longevity Star gave it a slap right on the head and said: "Wretched beast!你得命足矣，又聞他怎的？」即解下勒袍腰帶，把鹿扣住頸項，牽將起來，道：「大聖，我和你比丘國相見去也。」行者道：「且住，索性把這邊都掃個乾淨，庶免他年復生妖孽。」You are lucky enough to have kept your life — what more are you sniffing at it for?" He then untied the sash from his robe, used it to fasten a loop around the deer's neck, and led it up, saying: "Great Sage, let us go together and meet at the Kingdom of Bhikṣu." Wukong said: "Wait a moment — let us make a thorough sweep of this place, so that in years to come no demon spirit can arise here again."

那呆子不嫌秽污，一把揪住尾子，拖拖扯扯，跟随行者出得门来。只见那寿星老儿手摸著鹿头骂道：「好孽畜啊，你怎么背主逃去，在此成精？若不是我来，孙大圣定打死你了。」行者跳出来道：「老弟说甚么？」寿星道：「我嘱鹿哩，我嘱鹿哩。」八戒将个死狐狸掼在鹿的面前道：「这可是你的女儿么？」那鹿点头幌脑，伸著嘴，闻他几闻，呦呦发声，似有眷恋不舍之意。被寿星劈头扑了一掌道：「孽畜！你得命足矣，又闻他怎的？」即解下勒袍腰带，把鹿扣住颈项，牵将起来，道：「大圣，我和你比丘国相见去也。」行者道：「且住，索性把这边都扫个干净，庶免他年复生妖孽。」

八戒聞言，舉鈀將柳樹亂築。On hearing this, Bajie raised his rake and struck wildly at the willow trees.行者又念聲「唵」字真言，依然拘出當方土地，叫：「尋些枯柴，點起烈火，與你這方消除妖患，以免欺凌。」那土地即轉身，陰風颯颯，帥起陰兵，搬取了些迎霜草、秋青草、蓼節草、山蕊草、蔞蒿柴、龍骨柴、蘆荻柴，都是隔年乾透的枯焦之物，見火如同油膩一般。Wukong again recited the sacred word "Om" and once more summoned forth the local land-god, and said to him: "Find some dry firewood, light a fierce fire, and clear this place of demon trouble for good, so as to spare future bullying." The land-god at once turned and, amid a rustling ghostly wind, led forth spirit soldiers who gathered quantities of frost-facing grass, autumn-green grass, knotweed grass, mountain-stamen grass, wormwood brush, dragon-bone brush, and reed brush — all of them things dried and parched from the year before, which caught fire as readily as if soaked in oil.行者叫：「八戒，不必築樹，但得此物填塞洞裡，放起火來，燒得個乾淨。」火一起，果然把一座清華妖怪宅，燒作火池坑。Wukong said: "Bajie, there's no need to keep striking the trees — just pile this stuff into the cave and set it alight, and burn the place clean." Once the fire started, it did indeed burn that whole Clear Splendor demon dwelling into a pit of fire.

八戒闻言，举钯将柳树乱筑。行者又念声「唵」字真言，依然拘出当方土地，叫：「寻些枯柴，点起烈火，与你这方消除妖患，以免欺凌。」那土地即转身，阴风飒飒，帅起阴兵，搬取了些迎霜草、秋青草、蓼节草、山蕊草、蒌蒿柴、龙骨柴、芦荻柴，都是隔年干透的枯焦之物，见火如同油腻一般。行者叫：「八戒，不必筑树，但得此物填塞洞里，放起火来，烧得个干净。」火一起，果然把一座清华妖怪宅，烧作火池坑。

這裡才喝退土地，同壽星牽著鹿，拖著狐狸，一齊回到殿前，對國王道：「這是你的美后，與他耍子兒麼？」那國王膽戰心驚。Only then did they dismiss the land-god, and together with the Longevity Star, leading the deer and dragging the fox, they went back together to before the throne hall, and said to the king: "Is this your beautiful consort? Care to have some fun with her?" The king was trembling with fright, his gall quite dissolved.又只見孫大聖引著壽星，牽著白鹿，都到殿前，諕得那國裡君臣妃后一齊下拜。They also saw Great Sage Sun leading the Longevity Star and pulling along the white deer, all coming before the hall, which so terrified the ruler, ministers, and consorts of the whole kingdom that they all bowed down together.行者近前，攙住國王，笑道：「且休拜我。Wukong came forward, took hold of the king, and said with a smile: "Don't bow to me for now.這鹿兒卻是國丈，你只拜他便是。」那國王羞愧無地，只道：「感謝神僧救我一國小兒，真天恩也。」即傳旨，教光祿寺安排素宴，大開東閣，請南極老人與唐僧四眾，共坐謝恩。This deer here is your State Tutor — you should bow to him instead." The king, overcome with shame and having nowhere to hide his face, could only say: "We are grateful to the divine monk for saving all the children of our kingdom — this is truly a favor from Heaven." He at once issued an edict ordering the Court of Imperial Entertainments to prepare a vegetarian banquet, throw open wide the Eastern Pavilion, and invite the Old Man of the South Pole and the four members of the Tang company to sit together in thanks.三藏拜見了壽星，沙僧亦以禮見。Sanzang paid his respects to the Longevity Star, and Sha Seng likewise greeted him with proper courtesy.都問道：「白鹿既是老壽星之物，如何得到此間為害？」壽星笑道：「前者，東華帝君過我荒山，我留坐著棋，一局未終，這孽畜走了。They all asked: "Since the white deer was a creature of the Old Longevity Star, how did it come to be here doing harm?" The Longevity Star said with a smile: "Once, when the Sovereign of the East Florescence passed by my humble mountain, I kept him there for a game of chess, and before the game was finished, this wretched beast ran off.及客去尋他不見，我因屈指一算，知他走在此處，特來尋他，正遇著孫大聖施威。When my guest left and we went to look for it, it could not be found; I then reckoned it out on my fingers and knew it had run off to this place, so I came specially to find it, and it happened that I arrived just as Great Sage Sun was displaying his might.若果來遲，此畜休矣。」Had I truly come too late, this creature would have been finished."

这里才喝退土地，同寿星牵著鹿，拖著狐狸，一齐回到殿前，对国王道：「这是你的美后，与他耍子儿么？」那国王胆战心惊。又只见孙大圣引著寿星，牵著白鹿，都到殿前，諕得那国里君臣妃后一齐下拜。行者近前，搀住国王，笑道：「且休拜我。这鹿儿却是国丈，你只拜他便是。」那国王羞愧无地，只道：「感谢神僧救我一国小儿，真天恩也。」即传旨，教光禄寺安排素宴，大开东阁，请南极老人与唐僧四众，共坐谢恩。三藏拜见了寿星，沙僧亦以礼见。都问道：「白鹿既是老寿星之物，如何得到此间为害？」寿星笑道：「前者，东华帝君过我荒山，我留坐著棋，一局未终，这孽畜走了。及客去寻他不见，我因屈指一算，知他走在此处，特来寻他，正遇著孙大圣施威。若果来迟，此畜休矣。」

敘不了，只見報道：「宴已完備。」好素宴：Before they had finished talking, someone came to report: "The banquet is fully prepared." What a fine vegetarian banquet it was:

當時敘了坐次：壽星首席，長老次席，國王前席，行者、八戒、沙僧側席。The seating order was then arranged: the Longevity Star took the seat of honor, the elder the next seat, the king the seat before him, and Wukong, Bajie, and Sha Seng sat at the side seats.傍又有兩三個大師相陪左右。Beside him, two or three great masters also attended at his side.即命教坊司動樂。He at once ordered the Bureau of Music to strike up the strains.國王擎著紫霞杯，一一奉酒。The king, holding up a cup of purple-mist jade, offered wine to each in turn.惟唐僧不飲。Only Tang Seng did not drink.八戒向行者道：「師兄，果子讓你，湯飯等須請讓我受用受用。」那獃子不分好歹，一齊亂上，但來的吃個精空。Bajie said to Xingzhe, "Elder brother, you may have the fruit, but as for the soup and rice and such, please let me enjoy them." That fool, heedless of propriety, snatched at everything all at once, and whatever came before him he devoured clean away.

当时叙了坐次：寿星首席，长老次席，国王前席，行者、八戒、沙僧侧席。傍又有两三个大师相陪左右。即命教坊司动乐。国王擎著紫霞杯，一一奉酒。惟唐僧不饮。八戒向行者道：「师兄，果子让你，汤饭等须请让我受用受用。」那呆子不分好歹，一齐乱上，但来的吃个精空。

一席筵宴已畢，壽星告辭。When the banquet was over, the Star of Longevity took his leave.那國王又近前跪拜壽星，求祛病延年之法。The king again came forward and knelt before the Star of Longevity, begging for a method to drive away sickness and prolong his years.壽星笑道：「我因尋鹿，未帶丹藥。The Star of Longevity said with a smile, "Since I came out searching for my deer, I brought no elixir pills with me.欲傳你修養之方，你又筋衰神敗，不能還丹。I should like to teach you the arts of cultivation, but your sinews are weakened and your spirit worn, so you could not restore the elixir within you.我這衣袖中只有三個棗兒，是與東華帝君獻茶的，我未曾吃，今送你罷。」國王吞之，漸覺身輕病退。In my sleeve I have only three jujubes, which were meant as an offering of tea to Donghua Dijun; I have not eaten them, so let me give them to you now." The king swallowed them, and gradually felt his body grow light and his illness recede.後得長生者，皆原於此。Those who afterward attained long life all owed their origin to this.八戒看見，就叫道：「老壽，有火棗，送我幾個吃吃。」壽星道：「未曾帶得，待改日我送你幾斤。」遂出了東閣，道了謝意，將白鹿一聲喝起，飛跨背上，踏雲而去。When Bajie saw this, he called out, "Old Longevity, if you have fire-jujubes, give me a few to eat." The Star of Longevity said, "I did not bring any this time; wait for another day and I will send you a few catties." Then he left the East Pavilion, spoke his thanks, gave a shout to rouse the white deer, leapt astride its back, and rode off treading the clouds.這朝中君王妃后、城中黎庶居民，各各焚香禮拜不題。The king and consorts of that court, and the common folk of the city, each burned incense and bowed in worship — of this we shall say no more.

三藏叫：「徒弟，收拾辭王。」那國王又苦留求教。Sanzang called out, "Disciples, pack up and take our leave of the king." But the king again pressed hard to keep them, begging for instruction.行者道：「陛下，從此色欲少貪，陰功多積，凡百事將長補短，自足以祛病延年，就是教也。」遂拿出兩盤散金碎銀，奉為路費。Xingzhe said, "Your Majesty, from now on covet lust and desire less, and accumulate hidden merit more; in all things make up for your shortcomings with your strengths, and this alone will suffice to drive away sickness and prolong your years — this indeed is the teaching." He then brought out two trays of loose gold and broken silver, offering them as travel money.唐僧堅辭，分文不受。Tang Seng firmly declined, not accepting a single coin.國王無已，命擺鑾駕，請唐僧端坐鳳輦龍車，王與嬪后，俱推輪轉轂，方送出朝。With no other recourse, the king ordered the imperial carriages arrayed and invited Tang Seng to sit properly in the phoenix palanquin and dragon carriage; the king and his consorts themselves pushed at the wheels and turned the hubs, and only then saw them out of the court.六街三市，百姓群黎，亦皆盞添淨水，爐焚真香，又送出城。Along the six streets and three markets, the common people likewise all filled cups with pure water and burned true incense in their censers, and again saw them out of the city.

三藏叫：「徒弟，收拾辞王。」那国王又苦留求教。行者道：「陛下，从此色欲少贪，阴功多积，凡百事将长补短，自足以祛病延年，就是教也。」遂拿出两盘散金碎银，奉为路费。唐僧坚辞，分文不受。国王无已，命摆銮驾，请唐僧端坐凤辇龙车，王与嫔后，俱推轮转毂，方送出朝。六街三市，百姓群黎，亦皆盏添净水，炉焚真香，又送出城。

忽聽得半空中一聲風響，路兩邊落下一千一百一十一個鵝籠，內有小兒啼哭，暗中有原護的城隍、土地、社令、真官、五方揭諦、四值功曹、六丁六甲、護教伽藍等眾，應聲高叫道：「大聖，我等前蒙吩咐，攝去小兒鵝籠，今知大聖功成起行，一一送來也。」那國王妃后與一應臣民，又俱下拜。Suddenly they heard a sound of wind in midair, and on both sides of the road fell one thousand one hundred and eleven goose cages, inside which children were crying; unseen, the City God, the Local Earth God, the Altar Spirits, the True Officials, the Guardians of the Five Quarters, the Duty Officers of the Four Periods, the Six Ding and Six Jia spirits, the Dharma-Protecting Galan, and the rest of that host called out in response, "Great Sage, earlier we received your instruction to spirit away the children in these goose cages; now, knowing that the Great Sage's task is accomplished and he is setting out, we bring them back to you one by one." The king, consorts, and all the assembled officials and people again bowed down.行者望空道：「有勞列位，請各歸祠，我著民間祭祀謝你。」呼呼淅淅，陰風又起而退。Xingzhe looked up into the sky and said, "I have troubled you all — please each return to your shrine, and I shall have the common people offer sacrifices to thank you." With a whooshing, rustling sound, a shadowy wind rose again and they withdrew.

忽听得半空中一声风响，路两边落下一千一百一十一个鹅笼，内有小儿啼哭，暗中有原护的城隍、土地、社令、真官、五方揭谛、四值功曹、六丁六甲、护教伽蓝等众，应声高叫道：「大圣，我等前蒙吩咐，摄去小儿鹅笼，今知大圣功成起行，一一送来也。」那国王妃后与一应臣民，又俱下拜。行者望空道：「有劳列位，请各归祠，我著民间祭祀谢你。」呼呼淅淅，阴风又起而退。

行者叫城裡人家來認領小兒。Xingzhe called for the households of the city to come and claim their children.當時傳播，俱來各認出籠中之兒，歡歡喜喜，抱出叫哥哥，叫肉兒，跳的跳，笑和笑，都叫：「扯住唐朝爺爺，到我家奉謝救兒之恩。」無大無小，若男若女，都不怕他相貌之醜，擡著豬八戒，扛著沙和尚，頂著孫大聖，撮著唐三藏，牽著馬，挑著擔，一擁回城。The news spread at once, and everyone came to identify their own child among the cages; overjoyed, they carried them out crying "brother" and "my darling," some jumping for joy, some laughing without end, all calling out, "Let us pull the Tang elders along to our homes, to offer thanks for the grace of saving our children!" Old and young alike, male or female, none feared their ugly appearances; they lifted up Zhu Bajie, hoisted Sha Heshang on their shoulders, carried Sun Dasheng on their heads, hauled along Tang Sanzang, led the horse, bore the luggage, and swarmed back into the city together.那國王也不能禁止。The king himself was unable to stop them.這家也開宴，那家也設席。This household laid out a banquet, that household set out a feast.請不及的，或做僧帽、僧鞋、褊衫、布襪，裡裡外外，大小衣裳，都來相送。Those who could not manage to invite them made monk's caps, monk's shoes, tunics, and cloth socks, and brought garments of every kind, inner and outer, large and small, as gifts.如此盤桓，將有個月，才得離城。Lingering like this for nearly a month, they finally managed to leave the city.又有傳下影神，立起牌位，頂禮焚香供養。There were also those who had portrait-icons made and spirit tablets set up, bowing in worship and burning incense to make offerings.這才是：This is indeed:
