Read your own text
This is the home for pasted Chinese passages and text reopened from your account library. Read it with the same tap-to-open glosses the published chapters use. Paste-and-read stays free, with no account or sign-in required. A Pro account only adds an optional named library; Pro readers may also open stored private text here, and it enters this same browser-local reader without changing the free path.
How this works
- A passage may be up to 2,000 Unicode code points — about a chapter excerpt. The reader refuses anything longer before requesting any dictionary files.
- Segmentation happens in this browser tab. Pasting and reading do not upload the passage. Only when a signed-in Pro reader chooses Save to your library is a named copy stored with that account, so it can be reopened on another device; stored private text is handed to this reader once and is segmented here after it arrives.
- To gloss the words, the page requests the numbered dictionary shard files that already ship with this site —
/data/dict/han/<number>.json, one per character bucket, the same files the 字典 dictionary search loads. For those dictionary lookups, only the number goes in the request, and each shard is reused for the rest of your visit. - Words you save land in your 生词 vocab list in this browser, exactly as they do in the reader.
